We are industry leaders
Our great uncle opened the first Gills Fish and Chip shop in 1971, serving its local community with fresh food fast.
We’ve learnt a lot since then, opening more shops across the northeast, and developing our shops, brand, and menu in line with our customers’ needs.
Since the beginning, we have always strived to improve our quality, range, and service every year.
Our staff and teams grow too. Gills helps its staff build their experience in the industry, confidence in food service, and develop their responsibilities. Several have continued with us to develop their careers, and now run the shops we created.
Our standards are impeccable
We continually work hard to keep our standards high, which has earned us a 5 Star Food Hygiene Standard and enabled us to be awarded the National Fish Federation Award, which is only achieved by a handful of restaurants and takeaways throughout the UK.
